In 2011, my husband Steve was diagnosed with testicular cancer and made up one of the 50,000 men diagnosed every year in the UK with testicular, prostate, and penile cancer – Orchid is the UK’s leading charity working in the area of male-specific cancers.
Orchid has achieved significant success in a short space of time and supported thousands of men and their families. However, it is only a small charity, and there is still more work to be done and demand for these services is increasing year on year. The charity relies entirely on voluntary income to meet its commitments.

On 24th June 2023, alongside Ruth, I will be attempting to cycle the Coast to Coast in a Day. This route is achieved by several hundred people each year, but generally over 4-5 days, not 1 day!
To achieve this iconic 150 mile route (with over 4500m of ascent) will be a BIG ask of myself both physically and mentally, but it will be nowhere near the pain and suffering that thousands of women go through each year in their battle with breast cancer…Including a very dear friend of mine in 2022.
Breast Cancer UK raises awareness of the preventable risk factors for breast cancer. We provide practical information to help lower people’s risk. We campaign for policy change to support prevention, and fund scientific research to help improve our understanding of how to stop the disease.
