On Tuesdays, I walk with two friends. It’s really early, like 5.30am early, and I don’t do mornings well! We managed a fast-paced walk and completed 3 miles in just under fifty minutes. I have found that this walk, three mornings a week, has improved my cycling fitness but six months down the line I still find a 5am wake up call really difficult.

This evening there was a ride out with the York Rouleurs. I was pretty unsure if I would manage the pace but was pleasantly surprised at the end to see that I had averaged 16.4 miles per hour over 26 miles. The weather was perfect and I hope I don’t regret going when the alarm clock goes off at 5am tomorrow!

I know that you are looking at the distance and asking who would stop their Garmin at 25.99 miles… Unfortunately, my watch is set up in km (which I prefer so don’t want to change it) but Strava reports in miles so I spend a lot of my rides calculating km to miles and today I got it wrong!
