This morning I was back out walking. We managed a fast 7km (4.34m) in just over an hour.
The evening was a cycle with YRCC. Bloody hell it was hard! The route that we had took us out to the North East of York to Leavening and Acklam. There was a climb into Leavening which was hard but better than the last time I did it, the next climb I dropped my gears too quickly and ended up having to jump off the bike before I fell off it, ran up that hill in my cleats, then back on the bike, forgot to restart my Garmin on the fast downhill, got to the bottom of the next hill and slalomed up it to approach Acklam and then after the next decline my chain fell off and got stuck behind my derailleur – I’ve not put sentences in this paragraph as that is exactly how the ride felt! Every time I thought the ride would ease off there was another hill in front of me. It wasn’t my most favourite ride I’ve ever done.

There is a book written by Prof Steve Peters; The Chimp Paradox. It talks about the chimp hijacking you. Being either your best friend or your worst enemy. Definitely after this ride, he was my worst enemy. For me, doing cycle rides like this one makes it really hard to go back out for the next ride.
